I can’t register because my name has already been used.

Common names may be taken, so be creative.

I cannot log-in
  • Check the top menu. If it says “log out” someone is already logged in. Click on log out. You should get a confirmation of log out, and the menu item should change to “log in.” Click on log in on the menu, and you should be all set.
  • Also, you can look in the right sidebar to see if someone else’s name is listed there under “You’re logged in as”  If it’s not you, follow the first suggestion.
I’m getting a security message blocking access

There are two ways this can happen. One is if too many people try to log in from the same computer in too short a period of time, particularly if there are password errors.

It can look something like this:

Your IP (123..456.789.252) has been flagged for potential security violations.

That’s how hackers get in, so we need to pay attention to this. If this happens, try pressing the F5 key on your Windows computer to refresh the site.  Wait 15 to 30 minutes and try again.

Another problem can be when organizations block external Web sites. Most block Facebook and other social media, and sometimes Nurse’s Notebook gets caught in the blocking process. Check with your information technology experts, tell them you use this Web site for professional education, and ask them to white list the site.

I didn’t get the e-mail with my username and password

To make it as easy as possible, we let you choose your username (the name you want on the certificate) and your password. You should get an e-mail confirming what you have entered, but there is no magic link in that e-mail you need to log-in. If you have not received the e-mail within an hour or two, there is likely a typo in the e-mail address provided. Log-in with your username and password and correct your e-mail on the Your Profile page (link on the top menu).

I don’t like to read lots of information on the computer. Can I download the activities?

Yes, thanks to an unrestricted educational grant from Atrium Medical Corporation, you may download the activities supported by them and print it out for no fee. If you put a card stock cover on the monograph for Managing Chest Drainage it and bind the pages, it makes a nice reference guide. Or, you can put it in a loose-leaf binder, or download the mobile version for your phone. Right click on the picture of the in the lesson or on the text link and choose “save as” and you’ll be able to download a PDF document. If you don’t have access to downloads on the computer you’re working on, you can log on from your phone or at home and then download what you need. For the monograph, we provide a traditional version for a desktop computer and printing or a mobile version that is optimized for tablets and smart phones. The newsletters for CE are less than 10 pages, so there is only one version.

I need to print another copy of my certificate or 
I couldn’t print my certificate at the time I finished the test

Log on to the site.  Then, click  on Your Profile  in the main menu at the top of the page, and scroll down to Course Information. When you are logged in, you should see a list of the courses for which you have registered, the results of your quiz(zes) and a link to print another certificate.

I click on the button on the bottom of the course page to take the course, but end up in the same place.

We’re working on this one and think it is solved. You may see two buttons at the bottom of the course page. One invites you to register or access the course; the other allows you to enter the course. Once you register for the course and you’re already logged in, you are sent back to the same page so you can scroll down and click on the enter the course. That unlocks your access to the course and makes the first lesson live for you.

If you click a button and feel like you’re on the same page, scroll down and see if there are other access buttons for you to push or a link that would allow you to enter the lesson.
